Lead the design of cutting-edge travel accessories, manage patterns and materials, and drive innovation as a Product Developer!
Trtl is known for its travel comfort products with innovative pillows and accessories. Our name has become synonymous with quality, comfort, and forward-thinking design. As we expand our product line and global presence—growing in key markets like the US, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand, and entering emerging regions across Europe, the Middle East, and Asia Pacific—we are seeking a passionate individual to join our dynamic team. This is a thrilling opportunity to be part of our journey as we bring our unique travel solutions to even more customers worldwide!
We are seeking a Product Developer to bring a strong garment focus to our growing product development team. This role will involve working closely with suppliers, managing patterns and samples, material selection, and overseeing the design and development process for our travel accessories. We're looking for someone with a specific skill in Pattern Making and Garment Construction but with a broader interest or skillset in other aspects of the Product Development (PD) function is beneficial.
Key Responsibilities:
- Working within the Product Development team to design and develop travel accessories with a focus on garment-related projects.
- Create and develop product samples using garment construction skills, demonstrating an understanding of pattern cutting, sewing techniques, and garment construction methods to create samples and prototypes from concept to completion.
- Liaise with suppliers on technical specifications, material sourcing, and production timelines.
- Research and select innovative fabrics and materials that balance comfort, functionality, and sustainability.
- Support the wider Product Development team by working across various product development projects as needed.
- Stay informed on industry trends and contribute creative solutions to enhance product design and functionality.
What we're looking for:
We are seeking a proactive Product Developer to cover maternity leave in the first instance but expect there to be an opportunity for the role to become permanent as we expand. The ideal candidate will have experience in garment construction, patterns, sampling, and material selection, with a few years of managing product development projects and collaborating with suppliers. A background in travel or lifestyle products is a plus, but a passion for quality and creativity is key.
Experience & Skills:
- Several years of experience in garment technology and construction or a similar role within the fashion or functional accessories industry.
- Strong understanding of garment construction, patterns, sampling, and material selection is essential. This includes proficiency of appropriate software for creating and modifying patterns and expertise in sewing techniques and machine operation.
- An understanding of fabrics, their properties, and how they behave during manufacturing processes would be beneficial.
- Experience liaising with suppliers and managing the technical aspects of product development.
- Proactive and collaborative attitude, with the ability to work across different product development functions and cross-collaboratively with other teams within Trtl.
- Project management skills with the ability to lead key projects from concept to delivery.
- Knowledge of travel or lifestyle products is a plus but not essential.
Benefits:
- Competitive salary (up to £40,000, depending on experience.)
- Opportunity to work in a fast-paced environment with a growing global brand.
- 33 days annual leave (inclusive of bank holidays and an option to buy 5 more).
- Social Wellbeing Activities such as Yoga, Pottery Painting and Bowling.
- Hybrid and flexible working with core hours between 9:30am and 4.30pm.
- Benefits Platform - Medicash app, discounted gym/shopping/products, virtual GP
